We use our hands a lot to express ourselves (from air quotes to our amazing shadow puppet bunny). But we’ve often wondered if there weren’t a more subtle way to get our point across.
Which is why when we discovered Handscape Rings ($56 for one, $137 for three) by Dutch designer Zelda Beauchampet, we were instantly charmed. Unlike our normal bands, each of these tiny gems is a small part of a bigger story. A single ring comes with one of six tiny icons (choose from a bird, trees, pine tress, a rabbit, an apartment building or a hand). Worn alone, they’re a chic, minimalist design piece. When layered, they create an intricate scene tailored to our liking.
We love that we can mix and match the rings to suit our mood — from a few on a finger to an entire cityscape adorning our digits. And we’re totally hooked on rearranging them to create new scenarios all day long (for a cool way to unleash our inner six year old). Fidgeting never looked so good.
Best of all, unlike more expensive conversation starters, these are guaranteed to make a statement without breaking the bank.
And they beat our shadow puppet show, hands down.
