Playing Dressup
girl about t.o. Toronto
(Sep.24.09)
It's time for a confession: I think I played with Barbies for a little longer than I was supposed to.
I wasn't even into the make-believe anymore (though our masking tape casts, rings woven into hair as crowns and blue scarf oceans were pretty awesome).
But I loved the clothes.
These days, my fascination with changing up outfits continues. (A dress paired with booties can look so different when you swap in sandals.)
So I was thrilled to take part in the Remix your Little Black Dress Competition at Upper Canada Mall last week. With a rack of black dresses, scarves, belts, bags and more, the idea is to go to town and switch it up. (And if you head up before Sept. 27, you can also take part.)
Then, on Sept. 28, online voting will begin (you could win a $2,500 wardrobe and if I could win $1000 to Sweetspot's charity of choice).
The hard part was choosing wear to begin. Dressy? Casual? Classic? Edgy? In the end, a statement necklace caught my eye and I couldn't imagine not seeing it on my mannequin (so I went with a dress option that could be styled for night or day).

A Danier leather blazer ($250, on sale) was the perfect complement with its soft grey shade and sleeves that scrunch (thanks to elastic backs). It only took a few pieces but when you have a necklace that loud, I think it's nice to let it shine. (Here's a sneak peek but don't worry, a better picture was taken for voting)
The only thing missing was shoes.
My imagination is already racing.
