Straight to Spring

Sure, we're thinking a lot about the holidays right now but I have to admit, I'm already looking forward to spring (and everything that comes with it).
No, I'm not in denial (even if I'm still getting to walk to work without winter boots) and I've even come to love certain things about our coldest season but recently I stopped by Holts for the retailer's spring 2010 preview and it seemed like something to share.
Barbara Atkin, VP Fashion Direction, walked us through some of what to expect:
- A focus on quality, elegance and innovation
- A mix of both calm & beautiful (like cacharel) with hardcore & sexy (like bold-shouldered Balmain, new to Holts)
- Short, shorter and shortest (enter leggings ladies)
- Exposure is OK with a combination of cut-outs and sheer insets
- Seeing shirttails (if Oscar de la Renta and Prada can put a white blouse under a dress, so can we)
- In the trenches
- Intimate appeal (lingerie looks, lots of lace and nude palettes)
- including an interesting aside of a new tan-toned bikini line, Cali Dreaming, from Atkins's former assistant
- Let loose with easier silhouettes
- And in accessories there will be everything from natural elements to ornamental, refinement, peep outs and leathers/skins
So with that in mind, let's look forward to spring.
After all the snow has melted, of course.
