Closet Staples: Pencil Skirts

It's time for me to clean house (or at least closet).

Sarah's kitchen makeover
has me thinking about that area of my home that could use a little overhaul (luckily SweetHome has de-cluttering and organization tips to help get started).

I've made a concerted effort to keep things under control (give away what I no longer wear and try to put away clothes as I wear or wash them) but I certainly have a distance to go. And while my focus is on organization and keeping less stuff around, it's also a good exercise for what might be missing from my wardrobe (seriously, hear me out).

I definitely don't need er, more than seven pairs of jeans, but I could use some of that space for staple pieces that aren't on my hangers.

This week, I'm thinking about pencil skirts:
American Apparel Interlock Pencil Skirt, $40; BCBG Ponte Pencil Skirt, $105; Robert Rodriguez Twist Knot Pencil Skirt, US $242

One of these makes it easy to try the look out and see how I like it, one is an undeniable classic and the third has the added embellishment I usually gravitate to (though maybe that's why I'm now beginning to seek out basics).

As for what to explore next, well, what are your wardrobe staples? I'd love some suggestions.

And some more shopping budget.
