I spoke to Marcello Cabezas about L12 and his dinner party dos.
Read on for a little more of the history (and don't forget part one of this piece):
How did L12 come to be? I believe in this city sometimes more than life itself. I moved back from LA and just fell in love with it. The last 5 years has been so exciting to see Toronto grow into its own. In my mind, a city is only as good as its people. And you need to keep the best of the best engaged. Inspired. To feel there is no reason to move to NYC, London, Paris etc, because our fair city has it going on. L12 is very simple. Get the best of the best together every week to break bread. Make it good bread. Be it a star in politics, finance, fashion, sports, arts, medicine, etc, get them together and connect them in organic ways. Magic will ensue. And they will be elated that amazing people surround them to make dreams come true in our city. And it has started.
Favourite L12 moment so far? Having a very conservative top finance guy admit that he wishes to have a threesome in the next six months. L12 opens up people’s minds and they share. For real. That's what makes it so special. You have such great minds who dig deep to divulge human truths. There is a common respect, and notion that whatever is said at L12 stays at L12. With the aid of Gravitas, an amazing question game, the self disclosure blows my mind.
Ideal number to host? Well, 12 of course. We break up the table into 4 people, and have each person answer one Gravitas question per course. Then we switch seats. Well, I switch people. I am the conductor. I try to make sure each group of 4 is new every time throughout the night.
Thought that was sweet? You'll enjoy:
