How Would You Spend $10,000?

The Barenaked Ladies made us all think about spending a million dollars but the other week, I actually got to spend $10,000.
Well, sort of.
Through one of our contests, one lucky reader won a $10,000 gift card to the Cadillac Fairview mall of her choice, and I got to join her for a day of shopping. (Thankfully she could spread out her winnings, this was just to get the ball rolling.)
Allison and I chatted before we met about her style (loves layering and keeps a pretty casual day-to-day) and then met at Sherway Gardens to start the spending. (All at her own discretion, with me there more as a style sounding board if she liked.)
We began with her brainstormed budget (the mall has everything from tech to travel so she certainly had a lot of options) and Allison knew she wasn't about to go overboard on Day 1.
I arrived armed with some SweetLife tips on classic pieces from Joe Mimran and Isaac Mizrahi and we got down to (a terifficly fun day of) business, even implementing the litmus test I learned from my mother: Walk away from anything you're unsure of and only go back if it's still on your mind at the end of the day.
So, what did we get? Some great layering pieces for spring: light jacket, silky shirt, a little lace and more (with plenty of room left for the future).
Around the office, we got into a game of "What Would You Get?" (Not to mention, "how much would you spend in a day?")
I think I'd indulge in a trench. What about you?
