With the exception of a bed to my university housemate when I was leaving Montreal, I've never sold anything.
Friends have raved about consignment shops, craigslist and even ebay for years, but I haven't had so much as a garage sale. I'm not sure if I saw selling as too much of a hassle or just wasn't sure what things were worth but have always been curious.
So when our own Elise said she was checking out MyExCloset.com after reading about it on SweetLife, I asked her to share the scoop. (The story was by one of our Vancouver writers who had used the service on the west coast.)
She took some shoes to a spot in Cabbagetown where the Toronto rep, Natasha, met her and inspected the items (for wear-and-tear and general appearance). These guys won't go for things that are too worn, so that buyers rest assured everything is almost like new. They talked prices (explained better in the FAQ) and by the time Elise was back at her computer, she already had an email detailing the transaction.
Within a week, her stuff was for sale (with photos taken by the MyExCloset team and shipping and coordination all covered too), like these Vince Camuto Cut-Out Pumps ($80) or these Mossimo Brown Patent Peep-Toes ($20):

Seemed pretty painless and when they sell, she'll get a cheque in the mail.
My next closet cleanse is looking a whole lot different.
