What Happened to my Heels?
girl about t.o. canada
(Aug.11.10)
Once upon a time I wore heels like they were going out of style.
A night out didn't feel right unless I was propped up on something substantial (and don't even get me started on dates). Friends (and not just the guys) would ask me how I could walk all night in them and my answer always included the comfort of whatever shoes I was wearing.
Fast forward to last weekend when I was hiding out on the bench in the crowded bar's bathroom, just so that I had an excuse to take the weight off my feet. And I was wearing wedges (which I swore when we left for the night meant I practically couldn't tell I was several inches taller than I should be).
I love heels. But it doesn't seem to matter if they're platforms, wedges or some other supposedly comfortable creation, I just can't wear them the same as I used to. (And I never even wore what I considered to be high-high heels since at 5'8"ish I didn't like to tower too much).
Luckily there are more than enough flats to keep me content for most day-to-day wear (not to mention the imminent return of fall and all of the boots it brings with it). That, and there are still plenty of heels worth fighting for. Here's a mix of what my eye is on right now.

Clay by Chloe ($1200), Roots Russian Vamp Boot ($288), Dr. Martens Womens Phina Tall Boots (US $180)

Jeffrey Campbell Bernett ($159), Pierre Hardy for GAP booties (coming soon), Brian Atwood Loca pumps (US $800, also available at The Room)
I know I'll never stop wearing heels, I just don't know why my soles started to revolt.
