Fall in Line

(Aug.25.10)
I've taken my summer vacation, September is in sight and our Fall Trends Guide is up.
The season's are officially shifting (even if the equinox is still a few weeks away and the clocks aren't falling back until November).
But I won't be packing away everything just yet. Here are five things I'll be bringing with me well into fall.
Peep-toe shoes. I've already mentioned two peep-toe fall shoes that I have my eye on and have been wearing the style often this summer (and am now lusting after this pair from shopbop.com). I see these sticking around until the snow hits, just adding in opaque tights as needed. |
Strapless dresses. Add a cardigan and a belt and some knee-high boots or slip on tights, flats and layer a blouse underneath. As long as it's not as breezy as a beach cover-up, these summer staples have staying power. |
Sunless tanner. I recently took the plunge with Gee Beauty's coco tanning treatment, despite streaky self-applications and oompa loopma oranges before (nothing scary here, my sunkissed looking skin was perfect). I also bought a St. Tropez tanner before leaving and have been impressed with my at-home attempts since. I'll keep a bit of a golden glow going, just less frequently or cutting with moisturizer. |
Bicycle. I spent almost the entire summer planning to buy a bike. And only just got around to it last week (I used to refer to procrastination as working to deadline). But I have every intention of riding it come fall, especially with our Top 5 bike accessories. (Speaking of bikes, don't forget to scroll down for a chance to win one if you live in and around Toronto!) |
Barbecue. Stop laughing those of you who know me, I'm not pretending I suddenly started to cook. But I do love a good barbecue and grilled dishes are definitely tops on my list for summer (just admittedly it's someone else cooking). Veggie skewers, chicken breasts and even chocolate-chip-stuffed-bananas are all still good as the leaves start to fall. |
Though I guess my flip flops' days are numbered.
