I really didn't see July sneaking up on me this year.
I mean sure, it's in the same place it's always been, but still, it's somehow already July. July 8th. So, as I settle in and accept we're in the full swing of summer, I'm pausing to look at eight of the things I've learned in the first eight days of the month.

You can have your cake cookie, and eat it too.
Once Jes posted 1 Cookie, 2 Ways (both involving ice cream), I couldn't stop thinking about chocolate chip. So what won: cookie ice cream sandwiches, or the chocolate chip cookie sundae? Decisions are overrated. |

Even princesses wear jeans.
(OK, technically a Duchess, but if you marry a prince...) Kate Middleton's Royal Visit Wardrobe has included a lot of knee-length dresses, but by day six the jeans had come out (and the outfits still looked as polished as ever). |

It's time I spruce up my burgers.
These Lamb Burgers with Mint Yogurt look too good not to try (and are just one of three family friendly grill recipes SweetMama rounded up). |

I'm not the only one who loves to play with polish.
Orange? Yellow? Blue? The team said yes to all three with Test Lab: Summer's Hottest Nail Polish Colours. I'm thinking orange again (though adding a little blue accent couldn't hurt too). |

There's a camera that can survive being thrown.
Nadine actually tried out four Family Friendly Digital Cameras, but it was the one her six-year-old tossed across the room that had me doing a double take. (Don't worry, it was designed to be tough.) |

If I can't get to the beach, I can bring the beach to me.
One of the things I miss this time of year is easy access to an ocean. So, until my next trip back to the Maritimes, Sam's Best Beach-Inspired Scents will fill the void nicely. |

There's no easier time to entertain.
Days are longer, everyone's relaxed, there's no need to bundle up and the added outdoor space makes my place feel bigger than ever (perfect time for a Summer Party Guide - or a bespoke cocktail or two). |

You don't need the ground to garden.
Bring the outdoors in (and up in the air) with SweetHome's Top 5 Hanging Garden Goods. I think even I could keep these plants alive (knock on wood). |
See you soon August. (I'm ready for you.)
