Surviving Spring

girl about t.o. Toronto (Apr.23.09)

I have the sniffles, my skin just stopped flaking and I couldn't be happier.

Don't worry, it's got nothing to do with too much cold medicine - it's just my signs that spring is officially here (rainy days and all). I love this season (even if it means saying goodbye to all of my great winter boots) but I definitely have a bit of a, let's say, transition time.

Allergies act up, my skin's especially dry in between seasons and I have a few weeks where I just don't know which coat to wear. (I jumped the gun this year and replaced my wool with my leather only to end up cold...)

Luckily, since living in Toronto (and working at Sweetspot), I have learned to better adjust. Here are four places/products I couldn't do without (Claritin not included):
Clockwise from top left:
  • Gee Beauty. No one keeps my eyebrows in shape (also thanks to their amazing brow pencil) or my skin looking smooth like the team at this sweet spot. (Think I'll have to go back for the false tan that won raves last year.)

  • Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant. Originally a post-facial purchase (see above), it's now a near-daily ritual (I'm still not great at routine). The rice-based formula is safe to use that often while ridding me of unsightly flakes.

  • Blowdry Lounge. We've been fans since it opened and I still can't come close to mimicking the results. How much do I trust Beni? I let him snip my first set of full bangs and have never loved a cut more.

  • Kiehl's Ultra Facial Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15. Originally I received it as a sample and I keep buying it to restock (that's true love). A combo of skin-smart SPF, lightweight colour coverage and an extra dose of moisturizer make it my morning must-have.
So that's it, a round-up of my honest-to-goodness favourites right now.

Oh, and that trench you saw? That's my spring wish-list item from Elizabeth and James (available at www.net-a-porter.com). You can wear it as a dress and bolero too so that totally justifies the buy right?
