Oh My (Aching) Soles
girl about t.o. Toronto
(May.07.09)
It has been six days since the Innovators' Ball and my feet still hurt.
Really, really hurt.
In fact, I honestly think I might have broken them.
I knew the shoes I wanted to buy were high. I knew I wouldn't have time to break them in. And I even knew that I would be on my feet all night since I wasn't going to a sit-down party.

And yet, I couldn't resist.
Besides, I told myself, they have a platform; that's bound to up the comfort-factor.
No dice. Now, let's not go blaming the pretty shoes. They're actually pretty comfortable for say the first few hours you stand around on a concrete floor in them.
It's not the shoes' fault that for the next few hours I insisted on staying out and about only to find myself leaning on friends (and aquaintances who quickly became friends, should they be willing to shoulder some of my weight) and eventually pitching myself into a taxi, wondering how I would hobble from the curb to my home.
(Oh, and if you're wondering if propping up pillows at the foot of your bed and sleeping with your feet elevated helps? It doesn't. I tried. Really.)
So here we are almost a week later and the balls of my feet still don't feel the same.
But even with hindsight on my side, I can't say I'd swap out the shoes given the chance to try again.
I know it's not rational and I know it makes me a cliche. But I don't care - there are some outfits that yes, I'm willing to suffer for.
At least, once I can stand on the front of my feet again that is.
