Manicure Maintenance

The sun has been shining, the walk to work is back to being a walk and sandal season is almost upon us.
My recent obsession with the arrival of spring had another side-effect this past weekend -- a long overdue date with my nails.
With that, a friend and I headed to cheap and cheerful standby, JC Nails (1278 Yonge St., north of Summerhill; 416-924-0043). This walk-in wonder has all kinds of colours, new massage chairs and a $35 price tag for the manicure-pedicure combo that makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon.
After obsessing over matte grey for weeks, I was ready to brighten up. (And luckily have a job where short neon nails don't get you written up with HR.) I decided on Essie Punchy Pink for something fun for my fingers and then the new OPI Done Out in Deco on my toes.
After a little more than an hour I had caught up with a friend just back to the city, the knots had been kneaded out of my back, my hands and feet were polished perfectly and I got to try a couple of new colours without committing to a full bottle.
(OPI also has a great test before you try feature on its site -- I'm loving this orange for next time.)
Maybe I should do it more often than once every few months.
