About Chantel Simmons
Our former Editorial Director firmly believes the rule, "if it's not pretty, what's the point?". And while she’s no longer updating on SweetLife, you can still find Chantel being crafty and updating pretty picks over on her SweetHome blog, Make-It Session.
Bloom Band

(Sep.07.09)
I don't cook. But, this week I decided to cook up something else in my craft closet. Inspired by all the pretty floral headbands for fall, I made my own. Not only was it a super easy project, but it cost only $3 to make!
What you'll need:
1 skinny headband
2 sheets of felt
1 button
Needle and thread
Fabric scissors
Directions:
Cut a 2x4-inch strip from one colour of felt. Cut a 1x2-inch strip from second colour. Thread your needle and sew in a zig-zag along one edge of one colour strip (or use your sewing machine--it's quicker). When you get to the end, snip the thread close to the needle so you have two threads. Hold one thread where it meets the felt, and pull the other tight so the edge bunches and the strip forms a circle. Tie the two threads together to form a knot then snip the excess threads. Sew the two short ends of the strip together to complete the circle. Repeat this process on the other strip. Place the smaller circle on top of the larger circle and place a button on top. Sew the button through the centre of both pieces of fabric then sew your flower to your headband -- and you're done!
P.S. Over at Sweethome, I started a new blog called Make-It Session. Every Friday I'll be sharing my projects with you -- so you can make or bake something sweet! Check out this week's project: Cupcake Magnet, and leave me a comment letting me know what you'd like to know how to make yourself!
Now, if only I could actually cook dinner...
