I'm just going to say it: I'm not a fan of Winterlicious. Or Summerlicious. While I like the idea of an excuse to get together with my friends for lunch or dinner, I've had too many mediocre meals with rushed or rude service. Worse yet, the times I've had good meals have been disappointing when I learned that the restaurant doesn't actually serve any of their "licious" items on the regular menu.
So when I heard about Beautylicious, I was initially skeptical. But I didn't want to make a rash decision without trying it first, so off to spa I went for a sneak-peek at the first-ever Beautylicious event. And oh, how I was wrong.
More than 50 Yorkville spas and salons are part of the 11-day event (October 28 to November 7), with each spot offering treatments in the $25, $75 or $125 range. So you get to choose your price, treatment, salon and booking time. The event starts on October 28, but you can start booking your treatments now. Which means, if you plan your schedule right, you could be having 11 days of beauty bliss.
Here are the best deals I found:
- For $25 you can get a manicure, cut & style or laser hair removal.
- For $75 you can get a mani/pedi, facial, microdermabrasion, chemical peel or one-hour massage
- For $125 you can get a cut & colour, massage & pedi, or facial & pedi
I opted to try a new treatment and a new salon by getting the $75 reflexology treatment at Lid Salon. Not only did the therapist correctly assess any internal issues through my feet (sore shoulder, tense neck muscles and lower back pain) but she treated them. And at the end of the one-hour treatment I felt as relaxed as I normally do after getting a full body massage -- without the oily skin or sheet-wrinkled face.
I'm officially a convert to both the treatment and Lid Salon.
And unlike those other "licious" events, every single treatment is actually available at the participating spas and salons once Beautylicious is over.
