It's not only the final day of the year but also of the decade. And so, it's somewhat fitting that -- with mixed emotions -- this is also my final blog post for SweetLife.
It seems like just a few weeks ago that I was writing my first blog post, and sharing my excitement for my new pink digs and my new position as Editorial Director at Sweetspot.ca. The eight months that I've been here have been so fun and amazing, that I'm so sad that they've come to an end.
And so it's bittersweet that I've decided to move on from a place I love -- and people I love working with -- to do something else that I love. When I wrote my first novel two-and-a-half years ago, Sweetspot was the first to write about it. This February, my second novel will come out, and so, I've decided that it's time to turn my childhood dream into my everyday reality and become a full-time novelist.
Someone (who, I`m not sure...) once said: "No dream comes true until you wake up and get to work." I really believe that's true. Anyone can achieve any dream as long as they put their mind to it. Working at Sweetspot is proof of that. After all, Sweetspot was born out of Joanna Track's dream, and she achieved it by leaving her own highly successful career to start the site we all love in her one-bedroom apartment five years ago.
With a new year and a new decade, I figure there's no better time to make my own dreams come true, and I hope that if you have dreams you want to make reality, that this is the year that you take action.
In the meantime, I'll still be taking breaks to make weekend crafts with you (a girl's gotta glue gun!) -- so you can continue to follow me over at SweetHome every Friday for Make-it Session.
And so, it's not really goodbye. Instead, I'll be joining you on the other side, looking forward to a brand new day when I can sit down with my morning cup of vanilla tea and read what's new on Sweetspot.ca.
