We may not have the world’s greenest thumb, be the most skilled with a screwdriver or even know how to sew a button on properly, but we like to think we at least have an eye for fashion and interior design.
And when it comes to both of those categories, we’re happy to have discovered Rebecca Grimes.
Until now, the Quebec-born, Vancouver-based designer has specialized in luxury bedding and linen (from $250 - $700), creating simple yet colourful pieces inspired by her travels to Nepal and Europe.
But this season, Grimes has also released a limited collection of ultra-affordable, locally-made “Fly Away” sundresses (under $100). Each strapless number (say ‘no’ to tan lines!) features a shirred, empire-waist tube top and a cute, colourful base (think stripes and gingham), and each is hand-screen printed with whimsical sailboats, pineapples or old-fashioned bicycles. They’re the kind of frock ideal for barbecues and beach get-togethers, and are even work-appropriate under a blazer or cardigan.
Who needs a green thumb when you have the perfect summer dress?
