We were forlorn when we discovered we'd nearly blown our entire spring clothing budget - on winter clothes. (Who can resist 70 percent off?).

Saving us from our winter overstocking blues? A new Kitsilano boutique filled with cute, trendy clothes for under $100-regular price.
Opened just over a month ago by Leigh Varga, a previous buyer at local fast-fashion chain Vivid, and sisters Preetka and Sarah Brar, Lakshmi Boutique is appropriately named for the finely-dressed Indian goddess of wealth, beauty, and prosperity.
Our first spring outfit? A pair of Forme's dark, wide-leg sailor jeans ($72) and a cute Smurfette tee by Junk Food (they carry a wide selection featuring the bright blue creatures, $39). Underneath, we've got a pair of pink, ruffled boy shorts ($15), made by the same manufacturer as Hanky Panky. Up next: an oh-so-Nanette-Lepore navy satin tunic with pleated collar ($79), or perhaps a paisley batwing top ($42). Either way, we're also slipping on some skinny Indian bangles, available in every colour of the rainbow (12/$10) or in sleek silver or gold (12/$15).
And with all the cash we've saved shopping here, we think we have room on the plastic for one more spree at the sales....
