True Carny Love

With all the menswear-inspired looks, wide trousers, and varieties of grey clothing out there this season, we were beginning to think we’d spend the colder months looking a bit melancholy and dull—much like a typical Vancouver fall and winter sky.
Thankfully, Christie Clayton’s nascent clothing line, Carny Love, injects our closets with upbeat bursts of colour and sunshine. Inspired by 1960s gypsy culture, each garment features a silk-screened lady on the back and signature crystal-ball-esque iridescent buttons.
Sound intriguing? We thought so too—and when we spied the brown French terry coat ($118) with empire waist and Mandarin tab collar, the Psychedelic, blouson sleeved dress ($118) in swirly blue, and the brown pedal pushers ($120), we were hooked. After that, there was no stopping us, so we also picked up the velvet hot shorts ($80), with slant front pockets and contrasting white buttons, and the u-neck top ($78) with mock, contrast-buttoned belt.
Hey—we all need something to keep us cheerful this fall.
