Saying I Do (Again)

We're planning to renew our vows this summer after 10 years of marriage. Just a casual outdoor party with our closest friends and family. What do I wear? Is white inappropriate or overdoing it?
SweetMama Editor Nadine S. asked us (and since we love our main SweetMama) we asked our fashion expert Kelly Millar to answer:
Renewing your wedding vows is all about celebrating and reaffirming the love you have for your partner. It is a wonderful occasion to bring friends and family together for a fun, meaningful event. More and more couples (of all ages) are renewing their wedding vows. Since it is your vow renewal, you can make it anything you want, there are no set rules.
Given that it is such a special occasion, you want to ensure you look your most beautiful. Wearing white is absolutely appropriate for renewing your vows but for a casual setting, I would suggest keeping it understated, yet still bridal. Opt for an elegant dress, or sophisticated, feminine suit in white or a light colour.
Don't forget about accessories! Choose something simple such as clear crystals or diamonds in a necklace and earring ensemble to compliment and finish your outfit. If you do choose a white suit or dress, a lovely elegant way to add some colour is through your accessories. Go for a soft pastel-coloured crystal set, it's a stunning touch. And of course, don't forget a bouquet of carefully selected flowers!
