Along with what seems to be everyone else these days, we’re trying to cut costs. We still want to keep up with the trends, but not break our bank account.
Before we could fall into a fashion depression, we stumbled upon our shopping saviour, Penny Arcade Vintage. A haven on Dundas west for the frugal fashionista, this new store carries an extensive array of both men's and women's vintage at reasonable prices. There’s a well-stocked footwear collection and lots of interesting accessories and eye-wear.
We fell in love with a pair of charcoal grey, leather, knee-length kitten heel boots ($85). We were also drawn to a spring-ready cropped Lee denim jacket ($35) and pretty striped cream and red v-neck sweater ($30).
Other fashionable yet budget-friendly finds included a chocolate brown leather bomber jacket ($60), pale yellow cashmere sweater ($42), gorgeous Kelly-green pumps ($30) and an array of colourful seventies-style sunglasses (from $15). We loved the red ones in particular and can’t wait to show them off against a (faux) tan this summer!
The full-size change rooms (a rarity in most vintage shops), were a nice touch, as were the couches, fashion magazines and free-for-the-taking Rockets candy and graham crackers.
What an easy way to spend a day.
