It’s hard to imagine an island only 22 square miles can offer so much. As Britain’s oldest colony, Bermuda goes beyond its beautiful pink beaches and turquoise waters. Here’s your insiders’ guide.
Where to sleep:
Tucker’s Point Hotel and Spa (US $340+) sits high off the shore in one of the most picturesque locations on the island. In addition to golf and tennis, you’ll find the latest and most luxurious amenities, including multiple pools, lounge and eating decks, a state-of-the-art Fitness Centre and Spa, diving centre and private beach area – not to mention a crochet lawn for afternoon pleasure.
Tip: The gift shop alone is worth the trip to Tucker’s Point. Featuring the swankiest tunics, bikinis and jewellery, fashion-savvy locals love it just as much as visitors.

Where to eat:
For breakfast fuel that’s quick and delicious, head to Rock Island Café for the best cappuccinos, lattes and freshly made scones and muffins. Mid-day, make your way to The Lemon Tree Café (7 Queen Street). Here, locals line-up daily for their panini-wraps, sandwiches and salads (US $12+ for two). The backyard patio is delightful too. Come evening, pack a pashmina and venture to Bermuda’s finest, Little Venice (a favourite of Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, who call the island home) and by far the liveliest spot, with impeccable Italian cuisine. Nothing tops their fresh catch of the day, homemade pastas or seasonal salads – not to mention a very hip wine-bar for evening cocktails (US $100+ for two).
What to do:
Why dine on fresh fish, when you can catch it too? Sign-up with Playmate Charters to reel in Wahoo, Tuna or Marlin. For guaranteed fun (and bragging rights) swim with dolphin friends at the island’s famous Dolphin Quest. Golfers – pick your paradise! Choose from nine of the most pristine courses in the world. Shoppers, take note – there are only two main streets you need to know: Reid and Front. Here, you’ll find a mix of high-end boutiques (Max Mara) to fashionably fun Calypso. For shoes and more shoes, find them at Trends before hitting The Island Shop for its beautiful home décor and specialty gift items.
All this, and Bermuda is tax-free too. Not that you needed another reason to explore this wonderful island paradise.
