As much as we love five-course meals on white-linend tables, sometimes casual (yet delicious) is the order of the day.
To that end, we’ve discovered Taste, a cozy new eatery and wine bar specializing in small plates.
At only 920-square feet (and 35 seats), stop in for drinks and shared plates when budgets are on the brain (nothing here costs more than $2). We wandered in and were instantly impressed by the combo of laidback atmosphere and high-style perks, like the mixed-wood walls and gray leather loungers.
After quizzing the server on the very select wine list (changes every 30 days; it’s short and Spanish this month), we kicked off with a bright rioja blanca ($7) and a bowl of perfectly marinated olives ($5). That was followed by a spectacular plate of prosciutto, parmesan and arugula ($10), and then a refreshing ceviche ($15).
Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, Taste’s owners Brendan Bankowski and Jamie Bryshun promise an ever-changing menu with high quality, locally produced fare. Next time, we’ll try the charcuterie boards ($20), featuring a selection of artisan cheese, fish and meats.
Taste-y.
