We like to shop (shocking, we know). We also like to save the world (in our spare time). And we love when we can combine our two passions together.
Answering our dual-purpose call: Social Atelier, a unique line of t-shirts that combines fashion with awareness on serious global issues.
We were drawn in by all the designs; from the instant reality reminders like No One Wins In War and Stop Genocide to the more subtle societal messages supporting same-sex marriage (Same Love, One State) and highlighting Barbie's unattainable measurements (39", 19", 33"). Made from super-soft organic cotton, we felt as good wearing them on the outside as we did on the inside.
And we're doing more than just spreading the word. Social Atelier donates a portion of the $88 price tag to relevant causes; this season our new favourite top is enhancing lives of Darfur refugees through the Solar Cooker Project.
With so much great karma (and style), the line is already a regular feature in US fashion magazines and on celebrities (including activists extraordinaire Brad and Angelina). They just made their Canadian debut at Queen West fashion mecca Jacflash.
Shoppers, it's time to save the world, one t-shirt at a time.
