They say location is everything, but in Montreal sometimes you’ve got to take a chance.
Ovën Bar Piztro can be found across from UQAM and under, er, an ‘adult establishment.’ Still, the brand new pizza bistro (get it?) is a fun place for coffee or lunch, and, at night, drinks and dancing.
The menu is straightforward – salad, simple pizzas ($10 to $14) and the holy trio of dessert standards: chocolate cake, cheesecake and tiramisu ($5). The most exotic pizza topping is Italian sausage, but don’t let the simplicity deceive you. (We don’t want to mess with what’s coming out of the authentic pizza oven.)
And that giant oven is at the heart of the restaurant – the prime location indeed.
