No expert when it comes to body and corking, we’d like to bottle a handsome sommelier to lend advice..gif)
Luckily, our glasses are half full at Les Cavistes, a restaurant-boutique featuring French fare and an extensive wine list.
On the meat-heavy menu is a delicious mushroom and squash risotto ($19) and duck confit ($22) with cranberries. Oysters in wasabi and shallot vinaigrette ($15) to start and chocolate tempura ($8) with ginger ice-cream to round it out.
Should we love one of the 40+ private estate bottles, we can purchase it at the wine boutique (marked up 1.2%) so long as we buy some food to-go. The cheese plate ($9) will do nicely (sadly, the sommelier is not on the menu).
