When our gas tank needle hovers close to empty, we head straight for the nearest station.
And when our stomachs are less than full? We hit up Refuel Neighbourhood Restaurant & Bar, naturally.
Housed in the same space as their former Fuel Restaurant, Chef Robert Belcham and proprietor Tom Doughty recently reopened with a new name, a new interior by Marc Bricault and a new sound (with music courtesy of Zulu Records down the block).
Then there’s the revamped Northwest cuisine menu, listing dishes like Buttermilk Fried Chicken with a jalapeno biscuit and coleslaw ($18) and -- for sharing -- Whole Confit Polderside Duck with braised red cabbage and roasted apples ($55).
We’ll never run on empty again.
