Ah, Greece. Birthplace of the Olympics, ancient philosophy and mezze.
Tasso Bar a Mezze reminds us that Greek food encompasses much more than souvlaki and tzatziki. This restaurant serves up refined Greek cuisine, with an emphasis on traditional mezze, bite-size portions of food with big flavour.
Both the fried eggplant and gray zucchini with garlic sauce ($7) and salt cod croquettes ($7) melted in our mouths. A delicate serving of cornish hen with tomatoes and potatoes ($16) confirmed that great things do come in small packages.
We may owe a lot to the Greeks, but we’re not giving up this relic.
