When a malady rears its devilish head, we take a little herbal help from time to time (though not of the, ahem, certain variety).
The Keefer Bar, a dark, narrow and moody apothecary-influenced watering hole on the ground floor of The Keefer Hotel, is the newest of Chinatown’s growing cachet of hotspots.
Owner Cam Watt reeled in Dani Tatarin (of DB Bistro Moderne) to man the bar, where she infuses Oriental medicinal herbs with homemade bitters and syrups to create a list of unequivocally eastern-inspired drinks (from $10). There’s also a menu of Asian tapas – try the Vietnamese banh mi ($12) – to nibble on, and medical textbook light boxes to gaze at.
Long live herbivores.
