We get a small pang of sadness when a historic shoe store closes its doors.
But in the case of 1900s boutique, Paris Shoes, we don't mind—we just love the century-old Paris Block’s new tenant, Acme Café, way too much.
A comfort food haven, owners Alan and Peggy Hoffman have installed ’50s diner-style booths and a U-shaped counter, while their menu includes kitschy, cherry cola Pop Shoppe sodas ($3) and grub like chicken pot pie ($13), mac and cheese ($8), and the high-falutin’ grilled cheese sandwich ($10).
So although there aren’t shoes for sale anymore, we’ll happily try the fresh-baked pies and cakes on for size instead.
