Blink Twice

We had to blink twice when we walked into the newest addition to Calgary’s restaurant scene. And not because of the dimly lit space or paparazzi flash bulbs (going off in our imaginations, of course). Rather, there were bartenders mixing drinks right at tables. Ooh la la.
That's right, we were at Blink, Calgary's first supper club (aka: restaurant and bar) — the only restaurant in the city to offer bottle service.
Inside, the open one-room space performs double-duty as a restaurant and a night club. The décor is modern and dramatic: Dark hardwood floors and tables, plenty of candles, a long bar, and elevated ceilings (high enough that a girl can dance atop the backs of the booths after dinner.).
We nibbled on Goat Cheese Bruschetta ($9) and Jumbo Shrimp ($16), then dug into Mac 'n' Cheese ($24) and Seafood Linguine ($28). Stomachs full, we settled in for some swanky cocktails concocted from bottles of vodka, whiskey and rye (bottle cost dependent on bottle choice). Alberta liquor laws mean we can't keep our bottles on the table, so, between sips they get tucked safely away in a cabinet beside our swish booth.
We don't mind, we love that a cute bartender waits on us hand and foot.
