Say the following out loud and commit to memory: OY-shee.
Oishii (pr
onounced OY-shee) is the Japanese word for delicious. We've started saying it often now that there's a new restaurant in town - Oishii Village - that rolls out food as good as its namesake promises.
The authentic Japanese fare on the four-page menu includes dozens of scrumptious hot eats, including standards like shrimp tempura ($6.80) and more unusual plates like deep fried octopus legs ($7.50) and grilled yellowtail cheeks ($12.95). And the rolls - simply oishii! We're hooked on the spicy tuna roll ($5.50) and the house special roll of salmon, spicy sauce and masago ($5.50).
The servers kept our glasses full and didn't rush us, and the décor is simple and laid-back. It's a great place for an unfussy meal that won't break the bank. In fact, we've turned it into our official casual first date spot. (Even if the date's worth forgetting, we'll remember Oishii.)
