Appointment At Noon

Once upon a time, in a neighbourhood called Bridgeland, there lived many an up-and-coming oil exec and trendy yogi. They loved their glassy loft condos overlooking the downtown. They hated that beautiful Bridgeland had nary a place for dinner and a martini after a tough day of work.
Then came a midday miracle: The opening of Noon, a brand new restaurant and lounge on Edmonton Trail.
The owners took a ramshackle old building that sat empty for years and went Bridgeland on it (read: completed massive renos to turn the former dive into posh digs). Now it’s a sleek sliver of a space, featuring mocha velour booths, dark woods and a very cool nouveau Victorian ceiling.
We taste-tested and approved the massive, veggie-laden chicken salad ($12) and gourmet panini ($12) (a tough choice after eyeing ahi tuna with fruit dressing, $12).
Plans have been made for post-work tapas next week (when dinner service commences), including baked brie with raspberry coulis ($11), California pizza ($9.50), chicken satays ($9) and R 'n’ R (that’s for ribs and ravioli, $10). For dessert, what girl could say no to frozen grapes in champagne ($8) or a tiramisu sundae ($8)?
And now Bridgelanders – martini in one hand, fork in the other – can live happily ever after.
