Asian Invasion

fresh bowlVancouver (Jun.22.10)

The cuisine spectrum in Vancouver is any foodie’s dream: Japanese, Italian, Burmese, Persian and even Indian-Chinese.

Then there’s the superb Malaysian fare, made even better by restaurateur Tommy Ng, who shuttered his successful restaurant in Malacca, Malaysia, to bring us Fresh Bowl.

Moeski Inc. conceptualized the contemporary décor of this quick-service Yaletown spot, where steaming Southeast Asian rice or noodle bowls (from $10) are customizable with healthy picks, like tofu, chicken, veggies and organic brown rice – and served in under 10 minutes.

The ever-present Ng also name-dropped the fresh roti canai ($4) and the Calamansi shaken iced tea ($3), both very sound suggestions. Did we mention they deliver, too?

You can say we were bowled over.
