Sweet strawberries, moist and fluffy cake, delicious whipped cream … just picturing the perfect Strawberry Shortcake is enough to get our bellies to do the happy dance. And when we found a small bakery tucked away in the city’s east-end that actually made our sweet dreams come true – that was enough to get our whole body moving (back to the bakery that is . . . over and over again).
With 33 years experience, Boulangerie-Pâtisserie de l’Est has quite simply mastered the art of the Strawberry Shortcake. One light and heavenly bite (though we polished off the whole cake) was enough to see just how much the practice has paid off – and why this strawberry delight has such a loyal following.
It’s always made to order, so it’s guaranteed fresh. And with prices starting at $18 for an 8 person serving, it’s affordable for all occasions - birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and anything else that needs to be celebrated (time to change the toothbrush, stores staying open until 9pm, using the stairs instead of the escalator, the list goes on and on and on).
If you’re a chocolate fan, not to worry – they’ve figured out the secret for that cake too. Time for some more sweet dreams . . .
