Italian nonnas (grandmothers, for the mangia-cakes in the crowd) are maestros of homemade meals.
So when the menu at Enoteca Sociale claimed nonna as inspiration, we thanked the gods of fashion for stretchy pants and began ordering (we were justifiably excited, considering the wine bar was opened by the Pizzeria Libretto team, and judging by the irresistible bread).
Sipping a Monica di Sardegna ($13), we dipped artichoke fries ($8) in aioli, and savored grilled octopus with fava beans and potatoes ($12). Foie gras fans will love duck liver ravioli ($13) – made in house, like all pastas on the menu.
Even after selections from the cheese cave ($7 each), we found room for a torta cioccolata ($8). Nonna would be so proud.
