Location? Hôtel Nelligan. Occasion? Business meeting. And it was one with a happy ending.
To kickstart the celebration, we bought a box of victory cupcakes around the corner at Les Glaceurs, a new dessert lounge in the Old Port. Stepping through the doorway, we were taken in by their colourful pink and green walls, comfortable leather tub chairs and playful atmosphere. Not to mention the freezer full of Bilboquet ice cream and the long counter housing home made cupcakes.
Each day, there are 12 flavours of fresh cupcakes to choose from, made by owner Virginie Morin. The 29 year-old baker tests all her recipes with her mom, who helped create the store's signature (and secret) chocolate flavour. We ordered six Choco-Choco ($16) specials and ate one immediately. (OK, maybe three.) Needing to refill the box (and our yearning-for-more belly), we picked one each of Vanilla-Café ($2.85), Vanilla Lemon, Green Tea and Chocolate Peanut.
Success has never been so sweet.
