They say the smell of success is pretty sweet -- too bad no one’s figured out how to bottle it yet.
With new bakery Bonchaz, we don’t need eau de success to get our sugar fix.
Created by marrying Mexican “concha” pastry and French brioche bread recipes, each bonchaz is a soft milk bun filled with different flavour combinations, topped with a crunchy coffee icing shell.
With never more than six choices on the chalkboard menu, the original (from $1) and the chocolate truffle (from $2) were our instant favourites, and for a non-sweet treat, we noshed on the house-made vegan sandwich ($4) and the bacon mushroom soup ($3).
Affordable anddelicious? We’ll take a bottle of that any day.
