Yes, we’re still drowning our sorrows over the whole Canadiens vs. Flyers thing.

At least we’ve started doing it at our new hangout, bistro Blanc Rouge. Whether lounging with drinks or enjoying the creative Mediterranean cuisine, their rich, cosy décor (think modern gothic with red and black velvet, stone walls and wrought-iron accents) and flat screens help us out of our dumpiest of moods.
The generous portions of the table d’hôte ($16-$22) were in keeping with the warm, attentive service. We began with the creamy asparagus soup which was light and flavourful. A mixed green salad with capers, red onions and lemon oil with balsamic reduction and topped with smoked trout was soon devoured.
The tender cannelloni St. Denis were stuffed with chicken, spinach and mozzarella and drizzled with a zesty tomato sauce, with a serving of herbed linguini on the side. And the penne gorgonzola was rich and sharp, the perfect companion to a smooth glass of Sicilian red ($7). A fluffy slice of carrot cake completed the hat trick.
We’ll be going back often. A glass of blanc or rouge is the perfect way to pass the time until our next shot at the Stanley Cup.
