Be Scene

cafeMontreal (Aug.08.06)

Ok, so your best friend is showing off her BCBG teeny bikini (that she got at their 70% off sale) on the French Riviera; and your sister is making you dizzy with envy by sending you blackberr-ied portrait images of her latest conquest (you know the successful gorgeous Spaniard she just met in Marbella); and although their intentions are more than honourable to include you in their vacation ecstasy, you’re still in the city. Well, don’t just sit there; primp and get moving, because Montreal is its own summer hot spot with these latest must-see, and be-seen-at locations.

What: Café des Eclusiers
Where: 400 de la Commune West, Old Montreal
When: Thursdays
Why: Happy hour has never seen so many eligible young bachelors (a.k.a the select young professionals that make up Montreal’s in-crowd).

What: Time Café
Where: 3509 St Laurent
When: Hubo Goss parties on Wednesday nights
Why: The word play on the Hugo Boss name gives you an indication of the fashion-forward and party-fueled crowd you will so gladly ogle. So, wear your best Von Furstenberg wrap dress and strut on over.

What: La tartine
Where: 1248 Bernard West, next to Theatre Outremont
When: Anytime
Why: Beyond its Parisian flair and its delicious menu, sitting on the terrace means you get to enjoy the array of eye (we mean boy) candy, or the variety of luxury cars lined up along Bernard’s many restaurants/cafes.

What: Suite 701
Where: Place d’Armes Hotel (55 St. Jacques Street)
When: Thursdays and Saturdays
Why: Rooftop terrace, sophisticated, polished crowd, and superb lychee martinis… need we say more?
