Second Helpings

We often find ourselves faced with the conundrum of east versus west. Sidewalk stroll in Westmount and window-shopping on Sherbrooke? Or the tempting hidden gems of Laurier and Bernard in Mile End?

We’re at least happy that our two favourite food stops have both opened second locations to please our bipolar tendencies. Sunsource’s sophomore store on Laurier is a re-branded version of the original Sherbrooke nut haven, while F&F Pizza is giving its Mile End menu a Sherbrooke Street debut.

At the sleek new Sunsource, we’re still falling in love with exotic combos like macadamia nuts with lime and pepper ($13.50/lb) and ginger twist almonds ($8.25/lb), but the addition of coffees and teas gets our attention as well. And with flavours like blueberry dreams, pecan crunch and coconut blossom, the new bite-sized, preservative-free cookies ($6.95-$10.95/per box) melt in our mouths.

Once we’ve finished snacking and are ready for the main course, we’ll head over to F&F (Fresh & Fabulous) Pizza. Fourteen mouth-watering choices are made before our very eyes, making it a hard decision between the White Pizza ($15/12”) with Ricotta cheese and spinach and the classic Italian Caprese Pizza ($15/12”).

We know that everything is best in moderation, but we’re also comforted in knowing that second helpings are just around the corner (no matter which street we choose).
