Coloured Aura

(Jul.17.07)
When a psychic predicted colours in our future, we immediately assumed she was referring to our new summer footwear (we have a one track mind).
We were pleasantly surprised to see her prediction manifest in the form of new Mediterranean restaurant, Õra Resto-Bar. Situated in Old Montreal, it features a unique concept in dining: Every half hour or so, the ambient lights become a different colour (a change as subtle as the jazzy tunes playing in the background).
Our evening’s rainbow journey began with a scrumptious Moroccan Eggplant Salad topped with warm goat cheese ($8). As the restaurant softly transitioned to a relaxing purple, we were presented with one of Chef Louali’s delicious signature dishes, seared scallops served with homemade gnocchi ($22). (Although this is his head chef debut, the clean flavours and creative presentation are that of a seasoned pro.)
Our meal was topped off with a Chocolate soufflé ($9) that was edible ecstasy, perfectly paired with the room’s warm orange glow. After our last satisfying bite, it was clear: We predict a lot more of Õra’s colours in our future.
