We love a lot of things, and admit to going weak in the knees for a good cheese.
So our newest dairy-centric discovery, The Village Cheesemonger, had us practically wobbling out the door.
This small, well-stocked spot offers an extensive array of cheeses from around the world, with a healthy emphasis on Canadian varieties (and a healthy does of samples).
We loved the smokey and slightly sweet Applewood Smoked Cheddar ($4.59/100 grams), hearty Beemster ($5.59/100 grams) and tangy and pungent Tiger Blue ($7.89/100 grams), which we’ll serve on a handmade, salvaged-wood cheeseboard (from $30). Next time we’ll pick from the selection of oils, vinegars, mustard, sea salt, honey and artisanal crackers.
Just keep us away from the Gouda before the guests arrive.
