A Taste Of Montreal

cafeToronto (Mar.28.08)

Our visits to Montreal always include a long list of must-do’s, from late-night Poutine to St.Laurent shopping marathons. Topping the carb-loading list: Première Moisson breads.

Now we’ll have more room for other souvenirs (OK, shoes) as our favourite French-Canadian loaves have finally arrived in Toronto.

Made with naturally aged, unbleached flour, sea salt and filtered spring water and no added preservatives, we’re not surprised their selling over 350,000 loaves a week. We love their honey raisin and hazelnut bread ($4.69) for breakfast, toasted or not and topped with honey. For lunch it’s the organic sprouted grain loaf ($4.69) with any of our favourite sandwich fillings, and the Mediterranean olive fougasse ($3.99) will satisfy all of our dinner guests.

If only they’d start carrying the pastries here too…
