Fabergé eggs are masterpieces in the art world. Attention to detail, originality and beautiful design all play a factor.
And now they do on our breakfast plates, too. Fabergé is a new Mile End hot spot for decadent breakfast (lunch coming soon) based on the egg. The purple velvet banquettes, artwork by Philippe LeGris and lounge atmosphere don’t hurt either.
The Bird’s Nest ($10), lightly-fried cheese bread with a poached egg in the centre, comes from the owner’s mother’s recipe. The Fabergé Delight ($10), freshly-baked cinnamon bun French toast, overflowed with fresh fruit. We didn’t have room for much else, but a delicious latte ($3.25) went down nicely.
We may never look at those white shells the same way again.
