Restaurant in the Freezer

gourmet food shopToronto (Nov.30.07)

Flipping through magazines, we realize: Our taste often out-prices our wallet. Active Image Fortunately, our menu doesn't have to suffer from the same want/budget paradox as our closet, because we've got A Taste Above.

This gourmet shop provides chef-prepared and restaurant-quality foods as frozen, take home dinners. (All we bring to the table is boiling water, 15 to 20 minutes and a healthy appetite.)

We're impressing friends with the Roasted Duck in Herb De Provence (items priced per pound; about $18, serves two); we're delighting family with exotic venison and caribou in the Wild Game Chili (about $12-15). And we're not forgetting the vegetarians: The Agnolotti stuffed with eggplant and butternut squash is a crowd favourite (about $16).

With starters and desserts, along with entrees of beef, lamb and veal, available in the frozen format, all our tastes (and dinner parties) are fully satisfied.

We're eating like a princess, even if we don't have the dowry to match.
