A New Twist

The Bathurst and Wilson area is about one thing: Bagels, at Bagel World to be exact. But here’s where this city’s landmark shop (and our story) takes a twist — there’s a new (by just over a month) bagel in town and they call it the Whole Wheat Twister.
Yup, you heard correctly, Bagel World’s twister ($0.90 each; $10.80 for a dozen) is now available in a whole wheat version and its yummy, chewy goodness has us coming back for more.
For those not familiar, here’s the 411: It’s an over-sized bagel with New York roots. It boasts a crust just hard enough to not require toasting (although we do it anyway), is covered with tons of poppy seeds (floss required), tastes a bit salty and features the fluffiest middle that’s often “scooped” to allow for extra egg or tuna salad room.
And we can’t live without it.
Renowned for its old-style breakfasts; side salads like tuna, smoked fish or chopped egg ($5-$10); a huge variety of bagels, breads and cookies; cream cheese and more (not to mention regular crowds that pack the place daily), this new hot-ticket item hasn’t even made it to the eatery’s famous menu yet.
…we’ve even heard it’s slowly making its way across the city. Talk about a good story with a twist.
