We love the familiar St-Henri strip, so we weren’t sure what to make of Jane…
This new restaurant offers market fresh Italian with a modern sensibility – albeit infused with some of the Quebecois flavours common to her neighbours a few blocks down.
First we sampled “Mom’s Meatballs” ($12, better than our Mom’s), served with tomato confit instead of traditional Marinara. We devoured her signature pizzas: the Bianca ($16), with béchamel, buffalo mozzarella, parmesan, pesto and truffles, and the Pork Confit ($20), with spicy tomato sauce, Romano and roquette. A standout was the melt-in-your-mouth gnudi ($15), ricotta-filled confections with chanterelles, tomato comfit and Parmesan shavings.
Jane may be the new kid in town, but we think she’ll fit in just fine.
