Meat and Greet

We love a good piece of meat. (Can't deny the Calgary DNA, be it our appreciation for a barbequed steak or the hunky suburban chef who grills to our perfection.) But alas, our fabulous weekends spent grilling and chilling outside the city core are coming to an end. So imagine our joy when we stumbled upon the new uptown steakhouse, MEATing. We were immediately enticed by the restaurant's classy yet casual décor: silk hangs from authentic antler chandeliers, while diners feast on solid teak butcher block tables.

We love MEATing's unique "little dishes" menu, especially the 1,2,3 Do It Yourself Garlic Bread (first round is complementary; second $4). And we couldn't get enough of the turf and surf sushi ($9) or wild boar bacon-wrapped scallops ($11). But let's not forget the beef; multiple cuts and daily specials had us completely drooling ($20 to $46). To cap it all off, we even indulged in the not to be missed and totally guilt-free (you can't count calories if you're eating for a good cause) Operation Herbie chocolate cake ($20; proceeds donated to The Hospital for Sick Children). We are, indeed, in lunch, brunch and late-night dining heaven.

All we need now (because we are a gal who likes to have her steak and eat it too) is someone to wrangle our suburban cowboy back to the grill...
