Kultura-crazed

Toronto (Aug.01.06)

We’re addicted; 100% crazed for more. In fact, it’s all we can think about, those melt-in-your-mouth divine bites of unholy goodness. We’re talking about Kultura’s incredible donut hole dessert, of course. Scoffing at our new-found love? Dare not, these morsels are pure heaven and never to be compared with lesser confectionaries. (Plus, we’re quite certain they’re a cure-all for heartache.) And we’ve only had them once during our visit to King St. East’s new and hottest of hot spots, Kultura.

Not 24 hours have passed since we sashay’ed through Kultura’s fashionable doors and filed the restaurant as one of our favourite experiences, to date. Indeed. We could go on about the restaurant’s three floors of stunning décor featuring exposed brick, sleek modern tables, working fireplaces, a back-lit dining room and a bar/lounge that’s oh-so metropolitan.

We could go on (and on) about the sharing menu and its savoury chicken samosas, lobster ravioli, tuna tartar, jerked chicken, and even, edamame in black bean sauce. But then the donut holes arrived. Five in total, beautifully stacked, deliciously light and complete with chocolate and mango dipping sauces. Does it really get any better than this? It does not.

And when we return (and we will soon), we’re ordering two orders. Dinner mates, you’re on your own.
